Music Midtown 2023 Recap
By Anatasiia and Stephen Riddle
The return of Music Midtown was on September 15-17, 2023 and oh, what a weekend it was!
Music Midtown brings some of the biggest names across multiple genres, fantastic vendors, food and endless entertainment. And this year was no exception.
With Billie Eilish, Pink, Guns ’n Roses, the 1975 and many more, this year’s festival finished on a high note.
Day 1’s evening was lit up by Pitbull’s energetic performance, going into Flume for all the future bass lovers and closing with a sparkly, majestic set by the never-aging rebel queen Pink, who soared above the crowds in her shimmery outfit and sang her heart out.
The passing hurricane brought some drizzle on Day 2, but despite that, the attendees still enjoyed their time at Sueco and then the weather gods felt inclined to give Yung Gravy a reprieve. I bet they were singing along with him and wishing they could get the autographed lunchables.
Neal Horan made his fans squeal in excitement, while The Rose, a K-pop-alt band, hit some hidden strings of my soul with their emotional song “She’s in the rain” on another stage.
Fletcher fired up the crowd (and then made them cry) with her incredible voice at the Venmo stage, while Louis the Child brought immaculate chill vibes with their catchy track “It’s Strange”
What do I have to say about the 1975? Well, they definitely packed out the stage and rightfully so. There is nothing like Matty Healy’s voice echoing around Piedmont Park with a beautiful Atlanta skyline in the back.
Billie Eilish closed down Day 2 and damn! She sure knew how to work the crowd! Her performance was worth an Oscar (or is it a Grammy? Haha) with thousands of people singing along with her at the top of their lungs.
Day 3 brought a very pleasant weather for the festival-goers. Our favorite party girl Tove Lo surprised the fans with her mermaid-like outfit and did a thing or two to get the crowd rowdy 👀👀👀
Her sexy “Talking Bodies” put everyone in the right mood, while Big Wild showed some incredible skills on the other stage.
And then our personal journey took us to Incubus, who put us into the depths of our despair. Jk.
They were beautiful and almost magical live.
And then the main attraction of the night, the very anticipated Guns ‘n Roses performance, got every person in the park singing and jumping to “Welcome to the Jungle” while Slash did whatever he does, that crazy guitar magic, that your dad bragged about seeing live when he was young.
Aside from all those astonishing acts, the food was delicious, the merch looked fun, the VIP areas provided great reprieve from crowds and allowed the attendees to get close to their favorite artists, the staff was friendly and most of all, the attendees had lots and lots of fun.
Until next year, Music Midtown!
